Adventure Time

Last week was CRAZY busy. The phone never seems to stop rinigng with clients and contractors calling constantly. Friday was by far the busiest. First thing that morning, we packed up Ellens car and headed out on a little adventure. We started off with a litte trip to the "country". For those who have never ventured to Mandeville Louisiana, to these the country is anywhre theres more the 100ft between you and your neighbor. It's a small suburban town, most neighborhoods are tightly packed, much different then Mississippi. This particular client worked with Ellen years ago but moved to Texas, but after her husband passed, she decided to move closer to home. She bought a new house in Folsum (about a 30 min drive outside Mandeville) on a large spread of land with horse stables, pastures, and a quaint little house. Trying to find it was an experience all in it's self. There's 100 differnt LA 1077's and they all turn into different streets... really confusing.... Not to mention you can see the house from the road. (something people in Mandeville aren't used to) But we finally found it. The client wanted a fresh new paint color, new counter tops, remodel the master bath and change out the dated light fixtures.

After about an hour there, we headed back to the city to hunt for doors. Another client was telling us she got the doors for her new construction home from the little hole in the wall discount door place. Since Ellen is in the porcess of building her own house, she wanted to go check it out. The place was giant shed literally filled to the top with random doors. There was so many you could barely walk in the buidling and there were two stories just packed full of every type of door imaginable; you couldn't be even slightly over weight to be able fit through the tiny isles. When we pulled up, a lady in camo daisy dukes named Florida showed us around. Ellen told her the type of door she was looking for and Florida, who was not much bigger then me, sqeezed in the tiny walkway and started moving all kind of doors around to find the one Ellen wanted. The place was complete caos and it would probably have taken about a week (maybe a month) to go through all of the doors in that place to find an entire house of matching ones. That place could really make you feel better about your life. No matter how bad things are, just be thankful you dont have to dig through doors everyday. Definatly not a job for a closterphobic person. After about 10 minutes, Ellen had enough and we were back on the road again. This time to a normal lumber store that sells doors where we met a nice lady that helped us out and we did not feel like any second you could have a door fall on you; a much nicer atmosphere. Sometimes straying from the beaten path is not a wise decsion. Especially when it comes to doors.
